ANDEAN PHILOSOFY

HANAN PACHA, KAY PACHA, UKU PACHA & CHAKANA are concepts from the Andean cosmovision that describe the structure of the universe in interconnected levels:

- HANAN PACHA: Represents the celestial world where the gods, ancestors and heavenly spirits reside. It is associated with the divine, the sun, the moon and the stars.

- KAY PACHA: This is the earthly world where humans, animals and plants live. It represents the present moment and the balance between the other two worlds.

- UKU PACHA: This is the underground world, home to the spirits of the dead and forces of transformation. It is not seen as negative but rather as a place of renewal and connection with ancestors.

These three worlds are linked by the CHAKANA and each has its sacred guardian: the CONDOR, the PUMA and the SERPENT.
